We can learn from our children

Rose-Marie

Rose-Marie’s son, Benjamin, is autistic, with high support needs. When the doctors told her and her husband that their son has an intellectual disability and that they couldn’t communicate with him, she disagreed. She was convinced that Benjamin just couldn’t express his thoughts via speech, but could understand them. They discovered a software called ‘Mind Express’, which allows Benjamin to communicate through pictograms.

They have also founded a small nonprofit called “The Friends of Benjamin” to help parents of autistic children with high support needs find the support and tools they and their children need.

"Those who do not have speech need alternative communication."
